Özet: Finansın esas olarak teknik bir alan olduğu, bilim olarak ‘finans’ın ise, daha çok iktisat ve doğa bilimlerinin yöntemsel desteği ile var olduğu söylenebilir. İnsan yaratısı olduğunu inkâr eder yapısına rağmen, sosyal bilimlerin bir alt dalı ve uzantısı olarak ‘finans’ın iktisat içindeki kökleri ve sınırları belirlidir: Malların üretimi, paylaşımı ve tüketimi gibi geniş süreci inceleyen ‘iktisat’ın bir aracı ve inceleme alanı olan para ve piyasaya odaklanır. Bu çalışma temellerini iktisat biliminden alan ‘finans’ın sosyal bilimlerdeki kavram ve tartışmalar bağlamında eleştirel bir değerlendirmesini yapmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmada, bilim felsefesindeki ilgili tartışmalara referansla, önce ‘finans’ın içinde yer aldığı sosyal bilim ve etkileşimde olduğu iktisat bilimi üzerinde durulmuş, daha sonra finans’ın bilimsel açıdan konumu ve sorunları değerlendirilmiştir. Son olarak da ‘finans’ın kendi geleceğine dair bir öngörü elde etmesine yönelik olarak farklı yaklaşım ve önerilere yer verilmiştir.

A Critical Review of ‘Finance’ as a Discipline of Economics from the Perspective of Philosophy of Science

Abstract: It can be asserted that finance, which is essentially a technical area, as a scientific discipline survives through the methodological support of economics and natural sciences. Despite its denial of being a human creation, as a sub-branch of social sciences the roots and boundaries of finance in economics are obvious: While the discipline of economics concerns with such a vast area of production, sharing and consumption of goods and services, finance focuses on valuation and the market, which are besides mechanism and research subject of economics. This paper aims to critically review the position of finance which has foundations formed by discipline of economics in terms of the concepts and debates in social sciences. The paper, with reference to related debates in the philosophy of science, first contemplates on both social sciences which include finance, and economics which finance intreacts with, and then reviews the scope and problems of finance as a social science; and finally considers alternatives and different approaches that may help finance to create a foresight on its future.
